What’s New at Wolf Laurel & The Preserve Resorts
Click Here To E-mail Your Questions or CommentsCongratulations to The Village Post for creating a monthly newspaper for Wolf Laurel and the resorts here in our Big Bald Highlands. As we all know tourism and development are dramatically expanding here and I’m confident that working together we can provide the best four-season high mountain experience and second-home lifestyle on the entire East Coast.
Here in Wolf Laurel Resort, the 2005 summer season is winding down and what a season it has been. We’ve had record numbers of homeowners and visitors enjoying the exceptional array of first-class amenities and activities set against a backdrop of 5,000 scenic mountain acres. Both home building and rentals are at record highs even with the increase in gas prices. Our Mountain Trail Rides at Wolf Laurel Stables (www.wolflaurel.com/stables) have experienced a 300% increase in riders now that we have over 20 miles of horse trail. Also, we have increased participation in the ever popular amenities program covering the swimming pool, adult and children activities, tennis, hiking and more.
The first units of the new Mountainside Townhomes (www.mountainsidetownhomes.com) development, near the Wolf Laurel Country Club, should be completed sometime around the first of the year. It’s well worth a visit to explore the quality of the project, not to mention, the tremendous views.Bald Mountain Development Corporation has started an affordable log home program, the Bald Mountain Series. Plans such as the Blue Ridge Classic and the High Mountain Legacy are specifically designed for the view, climate and activities of our high mountain resort. I plan to move into the first of this series – the Blue Ridge Classic - located at the top of the ski slopes before Thanksgiving. Stop by to check out our other cabins being constructed just past the country club to the left off of Ridgeway.
Wolf Laurel Resort will have a new Ray’s Weather Station (www.raysweather.com) just adjacent to the top of Wolf Laurel Ski Resort operational by late November. (Now looks like mid-December).This weather station will provide weather conditions and meteorologist prepared forecasts for up to 5 days tailored specifically for our unique micro-climate at 4,500 feet elevation. As most of you understand, that the climate here at our high mountain resorts bares little resemblance to the valley climate and weather conditions of Asheville. Now our visitors and potential new friends and neighbors can realize our New England style climate is unmatched in the South within 30 minutes of a major tourist destination city like Asheville, NC.We believe continued high gasoline prices will actually benefit our Big Bald Highlands region of North Carolina because of the easy interstate highway access and closer accessibility to most of Florida and the South. Most other NC mountain resort locations are a longer drive and only accessible by heavily trafficked narrow mountain two-lane roads. When gas is high and travel time is limited, our unique location will mean more visitors and second homebuyers than other more out-of-the-way locations.
Plans for the future include a major renovation for the Wolf Laurel Country Club, the possibility of a new affordable townhome or condo development within the resort and a new regional website that will provide mountain resort news, recreation, activities, events, accommodations, restaurants & services now available covering all of Madison and Yancey counties.
Come by Wolf Laurel and take a tour of our Great Escape resort reaching elevations over 5,000 feet and see for yourself our wide variety of homesites, homes and cabins available. If you can’t make for a visit be sure to check out our website at www.wolftopnews.com
Come by for a visit, but, get ready to stay for a lifetime.
