Variety is the
spice of life and Asheville has this in abundance!
Take
the Wolf Grand Tour - Coming in 2007
 Asheville is
somewhat of a New Age Mecca downtown but many visitors and new residents move
here to get away from the stress, congestion and crowded conditions so prevalent
in major metropolitan areas and their suburbs. Asheville and the surrounding
mountains offer views, seclusion, exciting mountain activities and peaceful relaxation
while the quite eclectic downtown Asheville is balanced by the
conservative traditional values and lifestyle present in the small towns
and rural communities surrounding Asheville. Only in Asheville
would you have the opportunity as I have to run into both Andie
MacDowell and Gladys Knight not in downtown bars but in Church.
Well known
celebrities choose to live in Asheville for the same reasons the rest of
us enjoy calling Asheville and the surrounding mountains home. A
delightful four-season climate where climate and temperatures are
determined by your elevation. Within a few short miles, you can choose
to live and enjoy an inviting mild Southern climate or by being higher
up in the mountains, appreciate a snowy winter and cool summer
temperatures comparable to Southern Canada and the New England states. I
live at 4,500 feet in elevation and our temperatures are often 10 or
more degrees cooler than the city of Asheville.
I live on a mountain-top gravel road looking down on the ski slopes of
Wolf Laurel Resort where winter
blizzards can come from nature or snow guns but in less
than 35 minutes, I can enjoy the big city entertainment and
sophistication of downtown Asheville. While the temperatures can quickly
change from
below freezing to shirtsleeve weather from my home to downtown, so does
the entertainment and lifestyle.
From steaks, bluegrass music and mountain clogging at
The Lodge at Wolf Ridge,
just a short walk on the ski slope away in the summer or ski trail in
winter to my favorite live music in the chic and trendy
Vincenzo's Ristorante & Bistro,
in downtown Asheville where I've never had better Northern Italian
cuisine, I love the variety in lifestyle, climate and activities here in
Asheville.
No Asheville
certainly isn't for everyone but if you have a live-and-let-live
attitude and enjoy diversity, Asheville just might be the city for you.
Our high mountain climate ranges from Southern to Canadian, and you can
enjoy downtown city sophistication, Southern hospitality and small town
charm.
